To take a shot, click and hold down the left mouse button on the bowling ball image.  The power gauge increases the longer you hold the mouse button for.  While you are holding down the left mouse button, moving the mouse left/right will control either the amount of spin, OR your aim.  This depends on your chosen control method, which you will have set up in the 'Start Game' options screen.

When the power gauge reaches the top, or when you release the left mouse button, your character will begin to take his shot.  Before he releases the ball, you will have mere seconds to either steady your aim, or adjust the amount of spin which will be applied to the ball.  Again, this is dependent on your choice of control method.
