Fort Worth, Texas - 7/06. Terminix has trashed their name. As a former employee, I know first hand that Terminix does bill for services never treated. Worst yet, turning those customers over to collections for a service they never did. This company has stolen from its customers. And when they are caught, rather than admit the wrong, they blame others. This company also helps to destroy the market by the promises they do not keep.
Connecticut - 6/06. I was an employee of Terminix for a few years after they bought out the company I worked for and booted almost every other tech out on the street. I was forced to make sales, I was told that if I went on a termite inspection that even if I don't find evidence to tell them that they required a treatment. I was also told that if people have woodpeckers to tell customers that they had termites. But worst of all was when we didn't have chemicals we were told to either fake it or use just water. The company treats its workers the same as the customers.
Bloomington, Illinois - 6/06. Just an update on the on-going @#%$! that the big T is doing on my workers’ comp injury. First I get followed around by T employees trying to see if the four specialists that I've been to are all not telling the truth about the extent of my injuries. The manager of the branch still refuses to admit that he was notified of my fall, nor will he or anyone else respond to me or the lawyer I had to hire. The positive note to my case is that all five of the techs that were there when I started have all quit because of what they did to me over my injury. After all, if they will screw over an employee working over 70 hours per week and salvaging most all of the angry customers from the last tech that had the route, they will screw over anyone. The injuries are forever; the doctors have officially stated that surgery would not help but hinder me further. Right now after 8 months I still cannot hold my own son, and he only weighs 40 lbs. The health insurance that I have is from my wife's job and they are now throwing their support to my case by filing with my lawyer stating that the big T should have paid for a work injury that happened on the job, and instead of firing me without following their own rules. Even the Illinois Dept. of Labor has taken an interest in how they treat employees. Maybe if enough people publicly spoke out like this site is doing they would have to change their ways or fold. That is my hope. The only thing I can say now is if they don't like what is being said about them maybe they open their eyes and fix the reasons for the complaints. I have not seen them follow their own motto about honoring God or anything else. They have NO HONOR IN ANYTHING THEY DO.
Tennessee - 6/06. Beware of this company. I have recently been working for them and left recently. They treat customers horrible and lie to them. I even overheard a sales rep say, "Oops, I overcharged this guy $500.00," and the other technicians said, "Oh, well." Not to mention the no-shows for appointments, refunds that don't happen or that will take a year to complete, excessive billing sometimes to the point a customer doesn't remember if they paid or not; and they actually have credits on their accounts of hundreds of dollars. The sales representatives do lie all the time about the pest to the customers. Sometimes, well not sometimes mostly all the time, they make the customer believe that their pest problem is bigger than it really is. They lie about what the pest can and will do to their home. People also have a lot of complaints about damages, carpet and termite damage. I would never recommend Terminix to anyone and all the people I know who still work there say the same thing. That’s bad when you work for a company you don't believe in, and this was at the corporate customer affairs office in Tennessee.
? - 6/06. I was a Terminix employee. Although I made great money while working there, the office was like a jail. The salesman that made the most ran the place and could say and do whatever he wanted. And if there was something shady going on, if you didn't keep quiet, you were the next person to be talked about. I am currently pursuing a lawsuit against my former employer and ask that if you have any questions or complaints please email me. I am hoping to push it into a class action. I already have a few others and just need a few more to push it over the top. I want the headline in the newspaper to say "They Can Not Treat Their Employees This Way."
Rhode Island - 5/06. I was employed by Terminix for seven long, gruesome years. What a fabulous experience... NOT. Learning how to screw costumers over, and then finding out as an employee you also get screwed. There was one report filed that used the term "Splash & Dash." In Rhode Island, we call it "Dog & Pony." That all means let's see how much material we can't use. Let's save money on our P & L this month. The branch needs to do well. That explains after seven years as a Pest Technician why I was never paid crap. Terminix and Service Master, their parent company, are the ultimate joke. I was considered a Senior Technician and Associate Mentor. During the seven years of employment I was always told that I would get paid for my mentoring, or training of new technicians, and I never saw a dime. After confronting my branch and service manager, I was told that the pay was retroactive.."You'll get it coming to you..." My branch manager always said, "I'll call Payroll..." He was a lying fool.
I could go on for hours and hours, pages and pages of incidents that I could report about Terminix. My service manager would say to me, “You have a Pest Start to do today, but we don't have any materials; so just go and fake it and collect the money." I also, in the seven year span, would bring up the question, “Why don't I get any paid vacation or holiday time when the technicians perform all the work? Why don't we get a single thing?” But at the end of the year when the numbers look good and the branch is one of the so-called "branches of the year," which is another joke, the branch and service manager get to go to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Miami... the hard-working technicians get bull----. I have never worked for a more corrupt company like Service Master/Terminix. If the residents of Rhode Island only knew how much they were getting ripped off, they would be appalled. In closing, I just wanted to add my two cents, because I too was ripped off by Terminix.
Wichita, Kansas - 5/06. I worked at Terminix in Wichita, Kansas, for seven years. In that time, I have seen this company hire people in at more than older employees were making. They do not care about their employees, all they care about is what they make. They did away with my job as a termite inspector after seven years and put my duties on the sales and service people. They told me I could take an office job or take unemployment; so at 57 years old, I took the office job; but the pressure was too much. People calling in daily with complaints, and the managers would not take any calls about them. Customers are billed 90 days in advance of their termite renewal contract. They are suppose to have a home inspection before this money can be claimed as I was told by the branch manager; but when the printouts were given to me of the people that had paid early, I was told to enter them as being done even though they were not, then they would send them a postcard saying they had tried to get ahold of them even though they had not even called them. I do have this proof on paper -- dates and names. I don’t know how this company survives the way they operate. I have seen people go and do termite treatments that they did not have a clue how to do it. Ii have seen treatments done that were only partial but charged for the full treatment. I sent an e-mail to the manager in Oklahoma about this fraud they did on customers and as usual what I got was a phone call telling me I was just another unhappy employee wanting to get even. Well, they are right. They should be held accountable for their actions. They boasted about making a billion dollars in 2005, and I can see how by sticking it to the poor consumer that enlist their services. Thank you for letting me share my grief with you. Anybody that pays one hundred to three hundred dollars a year for termite protection and only gets a termite inspection for that and then don’t even get that deserves better. Also, the bait systems they would install had gone unmonitered for six months at a time. There were people calling in requesting the system be pulled from the property but never happened. Not only did they steal from the customer, but they stole from Dow Agro by putting in bait systems on houses or apartments they could not stop the termite infestation with by the chemical treatment; so they gave it to them without scanning it in so Dow would not know about it, and they wouldn’t have to pay. This company is about as low as is comes.
Waterbury, Connecticut - 4/06. Terminix is a rip off. I worked for them; and, yes, it’s true. I have worked in the state of Connecticut for five years for Terminix International. I was put in place when the state filed suit in 1999. I was a compliance officer in the Trumbull branch, Waterbury branch, and Wallingford branch. I was hurt in July 2004 and have had two neck surgeries. Terminix has turned its back on me after all I did when the state was going to close us down. I worked my tail off for this company. Now I can’t even get a return phone call. All I need is my employment and pay history for my lawyer. I never filed workers’ comp. I always planned to go back to work but now after going back twice and both times needing surgery, I have a plate in my neck. I suffer from bad headaches and I can’t work. After my last call dated 3/30/06 to try and get the new CEO of Terminix so I can get the help I need, I was called back by Amy Dancy, Compliance Chief. When I asked for the CEO name, number, or e-mail, I was told “Well, let me see what I can do.” So now I can’t have the CEO’s name? But the next day, I got a letter from Terminix certified stating that I have been on leave for one year as of April 11, 2006, as accordance with the one-year policy my leave status will be terminated. That’s just great. Now I’ll have no job, no health benefits, and still no help with something that is so easy to do. I have tried to call the region manager, Glenn Newman; no calls ever returned. I have tried everything. It’s sad.
California - 1/06. My husband was employed by them for two years; and during that time we went through hell, dealing with mandated demotions because he was the only technician with a Branch II license, and dealing with their health insurance that they misrepresented. Anyways, a few months ago, a former co-worker told my husband that they were all awarded some money from a class-action lawsuit. My husband was never contacted about this. Do you know of any lawsuits that awarded to employees in the Arcata, California, branch? Any info would be helpful.
? - 1/06 - Beware of this company. Inspectors are not licensed to do WDIRs (realtor inspections). I now work for a company that FOLLOWS THE LAWS and CARES about their customers and EMPLOYEES!!!! All Terminix wants inspectors to do is SELL SELL SELL!!! They push out their good home inspectors for new people off the street during every swarm; these people don't know anything about the job!!!!
