I am convinced once Terminix has a customer’s money, the customer isn’t of any value to them; and they know most people will give in and give up money not rightfully owed in order to avoid further hassles or a damaged credit report. Reportedly, one branch manager even told a customer "Sue us, we don't care"; and another told an assembled group of managers, "We are a sales organization, not a service organization." As shown by the thousands of complaints posted on Terminix’s now defunct “Customer Care Board” and the complaints posted on this and other websites, Terminix has proven both statements to be true in far too many cases. The more people who file complaints with each of the following, the better chance we have to help Terminix care and to help consumers actually receive what Terminix “guarantees”:
Terminix. First and foremost, the company should be given the opportunity to resolve your complaint:
The Terminix International Company L.P. 860 Ridge Lake Blvd. Memphis TN 38120 Phone: 1-800-TERMINIX Website: http://www.terminix.com Customer Service Inquiries: “Submit a service or billing inquiry using our convenient form in our Customer Care Center.”
ServiceMaster. If Terminix fails to resolve your complaint, try submitting your complaint to Terminix’s parent company, ServiceMaster:
The ServiceMaster Company 3250 Lacey Road, Suite 600 Downers Grove, IL 60515 Phone: (630) 663-2000 Phone: (866) SVCMSTR or (866) 782-6787 Website: http://corporate.servicemaster.com/index.asp
Clayton, Dubilier, and Rice. If Terminix and ServiceMaster fail to resolve your complaint, try submitting your complaint to Clayton, Dubilier, and Rice, the company which now owns ServiceMaster.
Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc. 375 Park Avenue, 18th Floor New York, NY 10152 Tel: (212) 407-5200 Fax: (212) 407-5252 Website: http://www.cdr-inc.com/index2.html
State’s Regulatory Agency. Your state’s regulatory agency may intervene on your behalf, and they will become aware of your complaint.
State’s Attorney General’s Office. Although it is doubtful, it is possble your state’s attorney general’s office will intervene on your behalf. Your complaint will help them see any pattern of abuse(s) and encourage appropriate action.
Federal Trade Commission. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will not intervene on your behalf and probably will not even respond to anything you submit to them. By filing a complaint with the FTC, your complaint will help them see any pattern of abuse(s) and might eventually encourage appropriate action.
Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) website states:
While the FBI continues to encourage the public to submit information regarding the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, this form may also be used to report any suspected criminal activity to the FBI.
I am convinced the number and types of complaints are criminal acts, patterns of corporate corruption, and violations of the Rico Act which need to be reported to the FBI for investigation; such as:
Fraud: Deceitful conduct designed to manipulate another person to give something of value by (1) lying, (2) by repeating something that is or ought to have been known by the fraudulent party as false or suspect or (3) by concealing a fact from the other party which may have saved that party from being cheated. The existence of fraud will cause a court to void a contract and can give rise to criminal liability.
Extortion: Obtaining money or property by threat to a victim's property or loved ones, intimidation, or false claim of a right (such as pretending to be an IRS agent). It is a felony in all states, except that a direct threat to harm the victim is usually treated as the crime of robbery. Blackmail is a form of extortion in which the threat is to expose embarrassing, damaging information to family, friends or the public.
False Pretenses: The crime of knowingly making untrue statements for the purpose of obtaining money or property fraudulently. This can range from claiming zircons are diamonds and turning back the odometer on a car, to falsely stating that a mine has been producing gold when it has not. It is one form of theft.
Terminix - Consumer Alert! If you have a complaint against Terminix, ServiceMaster, or any other ServiceMaster subsidiary, please submit your complaint for posting on this site to emu@syix.com. In the subject line, put “[name of company] Complaint - [name of state].” (For example: “Terminix Complaint - Ohio” or “AHS - Kentucky.”) The reason for including the names of the states is to show reporters, attorneys, state regulatory agencies, and legislators the problems occurring within their jurisdictions. Any message with profanity will not be posted. Names and e-mail addresses are not posted and will not be disclosed to any third party without complainant’s prior permission.
