How many complaints against Terminix have been filed in Maryland?  How does the State of Maryland rate as a public agency in providing information to the public and in their own knowledge to license and regulate the pest control companies that spray toxic chemicals in homes?

The following questions were asked in an e-mail letter December 12, 1998, to the State of Maryland.  On January 13, 1999, the answers shown below were provided in a letter from Mary Ellen Setting, Chief; Pesticide Regulation Section; State of Maryland Department of Agriculture; Pesticide Regulation Section.

2. How many years does Maryland’s licensing and regulating agency maintain records of complaints against pest control/pest inspection companies?

Our office maintains complaint files for a period of 7 years.

3. How many Terminix branches are currently operating in Maryland?  (My records, taken from the Yellow Pages on the Internet, indicate there are currently 13 Terminix, aka Terminix International, aka Terminix Termite and Pest Control branch operating in Maryland.)

There are 14 Terminix offices located in Maryland that currently hold Pesticide Business Licenses with this office (see attached list).

4. How many complaints, if any, have been filed in Maryland against Terminix International (and its aka’s); including the nature of the complaints, name and location of Terminix branch involved; and disposition of complaints (dismissed, settled, fine, suspended or revoked license, probation, etc.)?

A review of our complaint files indicated there were 21 complaints against Terminix offices where a violation of the Pesticide Applicators Law or regulations was noted and an enforcement action taken (see attached chart).
