How many complaints against Terminix have been filed in Michigan?  How does the State of Michigan rate both as a public agency in providing information to the public and in their own knowledge to license and regulate the pest control companies that spray toxic chemicals in homes?

The following questions were asked in an e-mail letter December 12, 1998, to the State of Michigan.  On December 16, 1999, the answers shown below were provided in a letter from Brian C. Rowe, Pesticide Section Manager of the Pesticide & Plant Pest Management Division of the Department of Agriculture.

  4. The complaint records are kept for a total of five years plus the current year.

  5. How many Terminix branches are currently operating in Michigan?  (My records, taken from the Yellow Pages on the Internet, indicate there are currently 15 Terminix, aka Terminix International, aka Terminix of West Michigan, aka Terminix Termite and Pest Control branches operating in Michigan.)
  6. The Michigan Department of Agriculture had eight Terminix businesses licensed from January 1, 1998 through December 31, 1998.

  7. How many complaints, if any, have been filed in Michigan against Terminix International (and its aka’s); including the nature of the complaints, name and location of Terminix branch involved; and disposition of complaints (dismissed, settled, fine, suspended or revoked license, probation, etc.)?
