CLARK NOTES ![]()
Family account states that John Clark came from Ireland and settled in the United States before the American Revolution. He fought as a Captain in the Revolution and was wounded in the Battle of Cowpens. Family recollections say that he was found on the field by the MAGBY family who lived nearby. He was taken to their home where he recovered and married the daughter, MATILDA. We know nothing of the MAGBY family or where the young couple went from Georgia except it was certainly West.

JOHN and ELIZABETH lived in Metamora, IL, for twenty-two years before settling in Kansas in 1877. He was a lawyer in both Illinois and Kansas. Family recollection states that he was admitted to the bar with Abraham Lincoln
Died 14 Jun 1883 in Wichita, Sedgwick, KS and is buried in Highland Cemetery in Wichita, Sedgwick, KS (gravestone)
