William Hayford, Sr.

William Hayford, b 5 May 1740, Pembroke, MA (Pembroke VR), son of Daniel & Deliverance Boles Hayford; d Hartford, ME 12 Oct 1801 (DAR Patriot Index), m Pembroke, MA 11 May 1762, Betty Bonney (VR) dau of Ichabod and Elizabeth Howland Bonney. He brought his family to Sylvester, Canada, now Turner, ME in 1777, and moved to Hartford, ME in 1796.

He is buried there on Hayford Hill. He served in the French & Indian War in 1756, was with Wolfe at Quebec in 1759, and served in Capt. Eleazer Hamlin's Co., General Thomas' Regiment in 1775, and in Captain Chamberlain's Co., Colonel Cary's Regiment 1776.
