Description
|
The American Hotel in Nicolaus. The town of Nicolaus was established as a ferry crossing in 1843 owned by Nicolaus Allgeier. The town of Nicolaus was quite prosperous in its early days when river transportation was a necessity for carrying both freight and passengers. Nicolaus also served as the county seat from 1850 to 1854.
