Description Black & White print of Hamilton's Balloon Ascension from Napoleon Square, Marysville, California. July 4th 1901. Frank Hamilton, a well known California balloonist at the turn of the century, later joined the Yuba City born John J. Montgomery in his early manned flight experiments, using a balloon to take a glider and pilot aloft. Once in the air, the glider was cut loose to fly.
