You have created your masterpiece! You just need to be able to show it off to the
world. Following are the steps needed to publish your website using the Web
Publishing Wizard from Microsoft. Of course, first you need the wizard, so go to
Microsoft and download it
now. Be sure you select the correct version for your computer. If you are
using FrontPage to publish your website, the instructions are VERY similar, but enough
different you need to look HERE for
details on using FrontpageBEFORE you
start your publishing, make SURE you have the entire SITE, and just the SITE, in one
directory. For instance, this directory could be called \webroot or similar.
This directory (folder) should only contain the pictures (.gifs & .jpg only) and text
files (.htm) that are to be published to your website, nothing else. Everything in
this folder will be transmitted to the Website server, and will be publicly accessible.
These are screen shots of a fictious site I
created just to show how its done. Please don't exactly duplicate the directories
shown.
STARTING SCREEN - No big surprises here.
Hit the "NEXT" Button!

Now it gets complicated, you have to find
your site on your LOCAL computer first. The wizard is nice enough to stick a
"Browse Folders" there, use it to find your SITE directory, the one you created
before. This part HAS to be right, or nothing else will work. Click Next.

As the screen says, You can use any name you
wish. I suggest SYIX.COM just so you can remember it next time. Click Next.

This page is very important! I will
stress it again, this is IMPORTANT. Under the "URL or Internet Address:"
field, type in EXACTLY: ftp://ftp2.syix.com
The "Local Directory" should be
filled in already. Click Next.

Just Click Finish on this screen.

It will now want to know who you are, enter
your username and password in the blocks provided, go ahead and check the "Save this
password..." box, and Click OK.

AND.... Wait a bit.

COOL! YOU MADE IT! Now take a
look at your site, by typing in "www.syix.com/yourname" and your freshly
published site will magically appear!
