Marysville, the county seat of Yuba County, is one of California's historic cities. Its history as a community goes back to the Gold Rush days.
The city is stratigically located 40 miles north of the state capitol of Sacramento where Highways 70 and 20 intersect. Commercial, agricultural, receational, educational and industrial activities for the Yuba-Sutter area center around Marysville giving rise to the nickname 'Hub City."
One of the top five commercial centers in the surrounding 27 counties, Marysville is served by three railroads, four highways, a regional airport, and a public bus line.
Marysville shares the title of 'Prune Capital of the World' with Yuba City, its neighbor to the west, across the Feather River. Other business comes from retail sales, manufacturing, rice farming, stock raising, mining and lumbering.
Beale Air Force Base, to the east, also contributes significantly to the community's economy.
Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, golfing, tennis, skating, and many other sports in Marysville and the nearby countryside and mountains.
