Leisure Activities in Marysville

Marysville offers many recreational and cultural opportunities... many of which exist nowhere else.

In the spring, we celebrate the Chinese Bok Kai Festival. which draws guests from as far away as Taiwan and boasts California's oldest continuing parade. The month of May brings the Twin City Slicker's Cattle Drive and the Marysville Stampede, staged by our own Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer, Cotton Rosser and his PCRA Flying U Rodeo.

In the summertime, we observe Independence Day with the Great American Celelebration and Speedboat Regatta. Activities spanning several days are highlighted by hydroplane boat racing and a spectacular fireworks display at Ellis Lake, our shimmering jewel. We also enjoy the Air Expo each August which features displays of military, vintage and experimental aircraft, as well as aviation memorabilia and high flying entertainment.

In the fall, we honor mountain man and entrepreneur James Pierce Beckwourth during Beckwourth Frontier Days. The Gold Rush comes to life again during northern California's first living history festival, and everyone is invited to participate.

In the winter, you won't want to miss the annual lighted Christmas Parade which marks the start of the Christmas season for Marysville's residents.

There's lots to appreciate in between too! Sports and recreational activities abound in Beckwourth Riverfront Park. You can enjoy concerts and special events at the park's large amphitheater or at Yuba Sutter Regional Arts Council's Center for the Arts. Don't forget Ellis Lake, you can fish, stroll the walkway at the water's edge and there is no better place in town for a picnic!
