Information and Referral

One of the most difficult things to do is locate a resource when you don't know where to begin to look. In the Yuba-Sutter area, you might begin by calling the Health Department, the Welfare Department, or one of the agencies listed here.

 

Area 4 Agency on Aging

Services Provided:

Contracts with and administers programs for nutrition and social services in a seven county area. Identifies needs of older persons, specifies services which have priority for funding. Prepares area plan and presents it annually for review at community hearings. A resource for information when no one else knows the answer.

Services Provided: Information and assistance links Seniors 60 or older and their families and friends inquiring on their behalf to community resources and services.

Eldercare Locator Hotline

The Eldercare Locator Hotline, 800-677-1116 9 to 9 eastern time. Eldercare Locator Hotline is the best number to call for nation-wide resource referral. The U.S.Administration on Aging service connects people to their local area Agency on Aging. Many such agencies offer respite care, adult day care, volunteer "friendly visitors," care-giver support groups and widower support groups.

Mission is to study and evaluate the needs of seniors and to initiate, sponsor, promote and carry out plans, policies and activities that will further the welfare and wellbeing of the Senior population in Yuba and Sutter Counties.

Public meetings are always posted at the Senior Center as well as minutes. Usually 2nd Thursday of the month.

 

Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center

Services Provided: Supplies information and referral services to caregivers of brain-injured adults; provides contractual services for legal and financial advice, family counseling, respite care and diagnostic assessment. Identifies, refers to and assists in development of support groups.

Eligibility requirements:

Caregiver of person who has brain impairment which occurred during adulthood (age 18 and older) and who is not eligible for assistance from other publicly supported programs or similar benefits.

Information and referral -- specialized equipment, information, support, etc., -- maintains a comprehensive nationwide computer file.
Peer counseling.
Attendant Care Referral.
Registry for available, accessible housing. Provides service and information on modifying the home for safety, ramp building, etc.
Advocacy and support groups, employment and Fix-It Program.

Eligibility Requirements: None, except for a need for services offered.

Fees or Charges: None. Promotes awareness of needs of disabled in the community.

Services Provided: Information and referral, help with paying bills, sometimes makes home visits.

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 9:00AM to 4:00 PM, 12:00noon to 4:00 PM Fridays

To have your name removed from junk mailing lists:

Write the Direct Marketing Association and request your name be removed from unwanted mailing lists: DMA Mail Preference Service, PO Box 9008, Farmingdale, N.Y. 11735-9008.

 

To obtain parking placards for disabled:

1. Pick up application at DMV

2. Have your doctor fill out the application

e. Return the application to DMV with $6.00

 

To obtain birth certificates:

Sutter County: Current and previous year available at the health department, earlier years available at the recorder's office. Health Department address is 1445 Circle Drive, Yuba City, CA 95993. Recorder's office is at 433 Second Street, Yuba City, CA 95991.Original certificate is kept by the State

Yuba County: Current year available at the health department., 6000 Lindhurst Avenue, Suite 601B, Marysville. Earlier years available at the recorder's office, 935 14th Street, Marysville, CA 95901..

 

To obtain death certificates:

Sutter County: Mortuary usually obtains a copy. Or, a person can come into the health department. After one year, the certificate is available at the recorder's office,

Yuba County: Current year available at the health department. Earlier years available at the recorder's office,

 

Property transaction records:

Any transactions done on property would be found at the county recorder's office.
