Services Provided: Application for Medi-Cal is handled
through the Welfare Departments.
Adult Protective Services Social Workers will investigate
and make efforts to correct situations where neglect and/or
psychological, physical, emotional, or fiduciary abuse of
seniors is suspected. If not corrected, cases are directed
to law enforcement, Legal Center for Seniors, Public
Guardian or other appropriate agencies. Reports are
encouraged.
In-Home Supportive Services are available through the
Social Services Departments to people on SSI and in some
cases, to persons whose incomes are a bit higher, and who
may be eligible on a share-of-cost basis, as long as their
assets are within SSI limits. Must be disabled, over 65, or
blind, unable to live safely at home without help,
financially unable to purchase services.
Eligibility Requirements: Varied, depending upon program.
Fees or Charges: Depends on financial need. Either no
charge, or portion of costs.Social Services Departments
